If we are living at peace with God, we can then enjoy peace from God. Read Romans 5:1-2 This peace is the absence of turmoil and hostility. It is calmness, lack of anxiety, contentment, clarity, completeness, joy, and the confidence of living in the truth that defies the chaos that hammers us in this world. This peace comes to us in abundance as we live in step with his will. I have found that when I pursue God and stay close to him, his peace permeates my day-to-day life. This provides consistent evidence of his love for me and deepens my faith and reliance on him. When we stay in his word, when we pray to him, when we seek and obey his will, our soul is filled with a depth of peace that can only come from God.
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you . . . After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 & 10
Keep your eyes on things above (Jesus Christ and God’s word), not on worldly things, Read Colossians 3:1-2 and you will find enduring peace. Live again for yourself, pursue your heart’s desires in self-reliant pride, then any peace you find will be fleeting. The apostle Paul tells us to be anxious for nothing, but instead pray about everything!
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus!” Philippians 4:4-7
Jesus gives us this assurance . . .
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27
I saw this on the bumper of a car . . . Know God Know Peace; No God No Peace.
